“The difference between a weed and a flower is a judgement.” —Wayne Dyer
We had a FANTASTIC volunteer event yesterday at Global Garden Refugee Farm! Our powerful team of 6 volunteers weeded kale, bean, cabbage and chard beds, harvested cucumbers, and helped prepare some of the community garden plots for fall planting. We quickly learned not to pull the rogue marigolds scattered throughout the plots, as we were told the Bhutanese plant these to harvest as religious offerings. And, we might have eaten a little Thai basil and cilantro as we worked….
Our hosts graciously toured us through the family plots, pointed out new varieties of plants, and sent us home with ripe tomatoes and cucumbers to enjoy!
Thank you to everyone who volunteered! We will definitely be back next year!
