On August 28th, 2019 LPC participated in a volunteer event for Bernie’s Book Bank that was held in Macy’s State St location in downtown Chicago.  The organization works to distribute quality children’s books to significantly increase book ownership among at-risk children throughout the Chicagoland area.  Our goal was to go through boxes of books and determine what reading level they were for along with following “quality over quantity” selection guidelines.  This was step one of the process that the organization does with the books collected – and by the end of the day we had sifted through hundreds of books that were ready for step two..

In addition, LPC participated in our last 2019 volunteer event for Bernie’s Book Bank held at their main facility in Lake Bluff, IL on Wednesday October 3rd.    Our goal was to go through boxes of books and determine what reading level they were for along with following “quality over quantity” selection guidelines. This is step one of the process that the organization does with the books collected – and by the end of the day we had sifted through hundreds of books that were ready for step two! A recap of who this organization is, Bernie’s Book Bank works to distribute quality children’s books to significantly increase book ownership among at-risk children throughout the Chicagoland area.

 

           

We would also like to thank the Woodfield Corporate Center for donating their proceeds from their lobby event called Collective Goods (Books are Fun) also to Bernie’s Book Bank!
